Dev Log #4

At this point, after the in-person meeting, we had been working with our collaborative team on some of the programming aspects of the game. They had been expected to code from the ground up, and had gotten to work on base mechanics - movement, a health system with a HUD, and a visual novcel style dialogue system.

Unfortunately, they were having some issues with integrating Unreal and GitHub - as they were more familiar with GitHub and our program doesn't typically use it - so we had not gotten any of that code before our collaboration was shut down from an administrative level.

Due to this hiccup, I spent some time adding Unreal's Game Animation Sample Pack as our core movement system and setting up some of the mechanics it allows - such as climbable ledges!

It took a fair amount of time to figure out how the system worked, which was after running into several issues with compiling the game engine - but all have been resoleved now, so the only thing to do is move forward! I have also looked into a few other systems to help with the loss of our collaborative programming team, which I will discuss once they've been inegrated.

Unfortunately our team has fallen behind on our goals - I think it's been a mix of project-related and external stressors, but we're still moving forward as best we can!
